The local area

The local village is 1 km away. It is a lively, friendly, typically French village with good basic shops, a supermarket, restaurant, church, sports and leisure centre, a doctor, and a primary school. There are many different activities, fetes, and community meals throughout the year.

There is good communication from the property in all directions. Carcassonne international airport is 15 minutes away, whilst other airports at Toulouse, Barcelona, Montpellier, Bezier and Perpignan are easily accessed.

The city of Carcassonne, 20 minutes away, has a world heritage site, La Cite, a must for any visitor.  A short walk from the property is another World Heritage site, the Canal du Midi - a peaceful, shaded place for boating, cycling, and walking. The beautiful Pyrennees and the Mediterranean are both accessible in less than one hour. A very wide vista of the Pyrenees can be seen from the site. There is much to see and do in this area, including cycling and walking, and there are many historic chateau to visit. It is a quiet, unhurried region in which to live or visit.

The Languedoc region is home to extensive, good quality vineyards to suit all tastes. Weekly markets sell a wide range of local, seasonal products and, together with numerous French restaurants, make the area a gastronomic delight.
