The city of Carcassonne, 20 minutes away, has a world heritage site, La Cite, a must for any visitor. A short walk from the property is another World Heritage site, the Canal du Midi – a peaceful, shaded place for boating, cycling, and walking. The beautiful Pyrenees and the Mediterranean are both accessible in less than one hour. A very wide vista of the Pyrenees can be seen from Le Puget. There is much to see and do in this area, including cycling and walking, and there are many historic chateau to visit. It is a quiet, unhurried region in which to live or visit.
The Languedoc region is home to extensive, good quality vineyards to suit all tastes. Weekly markets sell a wide range of local, seasonal products and, together with numerous French restaurants, make the area a gastronomic delight.
